For 10 years, something beautiful has grown in our small art centre. Children come here with dreams. Through art, they find confidence, healing, friendship, and hope. But since 2023, we’ve faced one challenge. We’ve run out of space. More young creators want to learn, paint, and grow than our centre can hold. So we’re building the next chapter, a new Faces Up Community Art Centre, just a few meters from where we are today. A space where children can imagine, create, heal, learn, and dream. The new centre will include art training rooms, a library, a computer lab, and a multipurpose hall, serving up to 200 young people at a time. The land is secured. Plans are ready. Now we invite those who believe in this work to help bring it to life.The good news: The New Africa Fund will match the first $5,000 raised, dollar for dollar, before the end of March.
For the past 10 years, something beautiful has been growing in our small art centre. Children walk through our doors carrying dreams in their hands and colour in their hearts. Through art, they find confidence, healing, friendship, and hope. But since 2023, we have faced a challenge. Not a lack of passion. Not a lack of ideas. But a lack of space.
The small centre that once held a dream now holds many young creators, and we simply cannot fit everyone who wants to learn, paint, imagine, and grow. And so we are taking the next step. We are fundraising to build a new community art centre just a few meters from where we are today, rooted in the same neighbourhood that shaped this work. A place where children will have space to: Imagine, create, heal, learn, dream.
The new centre will feature dedicated training rooms for visual arts and media arts, a library, and a computer lab. It will also include a multipurpose hall that serves as both a gathering and exhibition space, along with offices for the team. Once complete, the centre will have the capacity to serve up to 200 young people at a time.
We have already secured the land. Architectural plans are ready. Construction approvals are underway. Now we need the community that believes in this work to help build it. The good news: The New Africa Fund will match the first $5,000 raised, dollar for dollar, before the end of March.
