HOW ART IS SUPPORTING CHILDREN TO RAISE THEIR OWN SCHOOL FEES
Over the past weekend, we witnessed some of the warmest smiles ever as firstly, the children had an exciting day opening their savings bottles.
About 8 months ago, eager to get directly involved in the provision of the school needs for some of the young people we mentor, the team came up with the idea of saving money in plastic bottles with which we hoped to teach the said children the culture of saving as it will come in handy in their future and also enable us to generate funds to contribute towards the aforementioned cause. We must say the idea paid off as the children managed to contribute a total of 860,000 UGX. We continue to thank the parents, guardians and the children for the initiative’s success was a result of their continuous involvement and commitment plus also everyone who bought item or two.
Secondly, over the past weekend, we opened up a store as a platform to market the works of the children for the sustainability of the idea. – Check it on Instagram Faces Up Store. The primary aim is to enable the children to attain a proper education through raising enough funds from the purchases made of the said products.
For the start, we piloted the idea with artworks and paintings from 8 of the children. The result-such amazing products made were sold at our pop-up shop located at; every Sunday of the week and the rest showcased via our social media platforms. We must say that both initiatives undertaken were a success as they saw to us raising 85% of the children’s school term’s needs.
We thank you for enabling the children to have an opportunity to pay their school dues through their own efforts. We couldn’t be more grateful for your support also, from the above testimony, we thought to ourselves to develop the idea further. Plans were laid and the necessary preparations were made. As of last weekend, the developed idea being in the pipeline is now simply history.
